Coffee Shops in Raleigh: Where to Sip, Stroll, and Stay Awhile

One of my favorite ways to get to know a city or a neighborhood is with a coffee in hand. Luckily in Raleigh, coffee isn’t just a caffeine fix, it’s part of the lifestyle. Whether your popping into a local bakery, or catching up with friends on a patio, Raleigh’s coffee scene offers many moments that make the city feel like home.

As a realtor, because I’m constantly moving through different neighborhoods  I’m always finding new spots! Below you’ll find a few of my go to coffee shops. The best part? I paired each one with the perfect place to wander nearby. From tree lined streets to buzzing downtown blocks, let’s dive in!

Jubala Coffee: A True Neighborhood Staple

Jubala Coffee feels like the definition of a true neighborhood staple. The coffee is consistently smooth and well crafted. Maybe you’re grabbing a quick drip or settling in with a specialty latte. The pastries are fresh, flavorful, and nearly impossible to pass up once you see them in the case. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between cozy and energetic, with a steady buzz that never feels overwhelming.

Take your coffee to go:
Stroll through the charming Five Points neighborhood and admire classic Raleigh homes. It’s one of those areas that reminds you why people fall in love with this city.

A side note:
Their house made biscuits and waffles are a must, especially if you’re lingering for breakfast.

Morning Times: A Downtown Classic

Located near the historic Oakwood neighborhood, Morning Times has long been a downtown favorite with a relaxed, artsy feel. The lattes are smooth and expertly made, offering the perfect pick me up. Their food menu is comforting and satisfying, with options that pair perfectly with a warm drink. The space itself feels cozy and creative, filled with natural light and an easygoing buzz.

Perfect walk nearby:
Grab your drink and head toward Oakwood Historic District. Brick sidewalks, historic homes, and quiet streets make it one of my favorite walking areas in the city.

Heirloom Coffee: A Warehouse District Favorite

Heirloom is ideal if you appreciate modern design and a calm, thoughtfully curated atmosphere. The clean aesthetic and natural light make it an inviting space to settle in. Offering bold, carefully crafted dishes inspired by Southeast Asian flavors, this spot is perfect for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a mid day matcha treat.

Take a stroll:
Walk through the Warehouse District and nearby Dorothea Dix Park. Open green space, skyline views, and seasonal blooms make this area especially beautiful.

Sir Walter is a downtown gem known for its warm interiors and inviting environment. It’s an ideal stop for a mid day pause with cozy seating and great vibes. If you’re craving a classic coffee or something refreshing this is your place.

Pair it with:
A walk around City Plaza or down Fayetteville Street, this area buzzes with energy during the work week and slows into an easy stroll on weekends.

Boulted Bread: Fresh Bread and Perfect Coffee

While known as a bakery first, Boulted Bread pairs beautifully with your coffee plans. Their bread and pastries are handcrafted and worth every bite. The space is welcoming and makes it easy to linger over a cup of coffee or a quick breakfast bite. Whether you’re meeting friends, studying, or just treating yourself, Boulted Bread strikes the perfect balance of quality and charm. It’s a spot where the aroma of fresh bread and the warmth of a good coffee make every visit feel special.
